Soooooo excited, flying out to Vancouver a week tomorrow.
Last night Alex & I rode over to Tempelhof (a huge abandoned airport in Berlin) at sunset, the sky was awesome.
Some people had strung together over a hundred tiny kites and were flying them. It was mental, it looked like magic as the line was so taught and still, crazy.
They have designated Grillplatz (that’s a BBQ area, obviously) that we totally need to take advantage of whilst we have all this fine weather.
Off to an outdoor cinema tonight in Kreuzberg to see Shame, super excited and slightly apprehensive…
So we’ve been in Berlin for 12 days now and we’re having a great time.
We arrived with no where to live and spent a manic few days viewing places, after losing an apartment to a coin flip we actually secured three offers and had a long night weighing up pros and cons. We chose the place shown left (or above). We’re sharing with first floor apartment with 3 Bavarian guys. It’s great, we’re in Neukölln right near Hermannplatz.
We’re trying to balance work and exploration and it’s going well, we’ve been on many an interesting walk/bike ride. Which usually result in ice cream or frozen yoghurt, both of which Berliners seem very fond of, which I’m totally down with.
It’s also great to be back in a city and meeting new people all the time. I’ve had a great weekend, whilst Alex has been away in Cambridge, hanging out with the venerable Luke Leighfield celebrating his 25th birthday with peanut butter ice cream, indian food & kebabs. Great combo.
We’ve spent the last four years living and working in Cardigan and it’s been extraordinary. We’ve worked with David & Clare on The Do Lectures, Hiut Denim, The Do Book Co. and howies. With the internet ensuring that we can earn a living without being tied down to one place in particular, we’ve decided to live nomadically for a while.
Starting out in May, we’re going to spend a month in Bristol. From there, we’ll spend the summer in Berlin and then the Autumn in San Francisco. That is as far as we have planned. And we can’t wait :D
We’re not sure where we’ll end up, or how long we’ll be on the move… Regardless, we’ll put up some kind of blog of our adventures soon. In the mean time, follow us on twitter — @alexheslop and @jonheslop.
Jon builds websites and Alex draws pictures, if you’d like to work with us, fancy meeting for a drink or you have a gem of wisdom then drop us message. We’d love to hear from you.
